I Was Google Stalked!
I am a Google stalk-ee. Last Christmas my workplace required a photo to put with a piece of writing I had done for the website. I knew someone had been Googling me a lot a few years ago because the guy who keeps the website of a club I belong to ran the stats, and I had been Googled a lot. But when this work article came out, I received a mash note from a guy who said he had carried a torch for 33 years. Top that! Thing is, I can’t remember him. I can barely put a name to a face. I can’t remember going out with him or talking to him at all.

.. I had an “altercation”, of sorts, w/a woman I worked with many years ago. Everyone came out intact, o.k.
I am curious, can she identify me if I Google her?

She can’t identify you. But I can. Joking.

LoL.
If you google using reunion.com or some site linked then it sends the recipient an email saying they were googled. It does bot say your name, however if you find their personal website and view/hit it a lot they can get your ipaddress and find out who/what/wheres. Usually takes police involvment to tag you specific.

Truth be told, I consider online seeking to be multiple categories.
Investigation: Like a Private eye or Skip tracer.
these people seek out people for non-personal reasons to help find someone for either work or being hired to find someone with altruistic intentions.
Stalkers: These people really do stalk.
Harassment: People with either some personal issue against a person and seeking to destroy their life. This is Harassment and liable.
——-
If you cannot find or have no idea whom these people are that are hounding you, then you need to take action to solidify your own life. Such as writing under a Nom de Plume, or creating a DBA to go by. Thereby making it hard for them to just search you by your legal name. They’d have to have access to the city records which hold the paperwork showing your true name and the DBA name. While some of these are public records, not everyone knows how to access them.
If you know whom these people are, you need to consider legal action and have a restraining order put on them. Also consider suing for liable acts.
Are they falsely accusing you of something that is getting you fired, or are you an offender of some sort and everything getting you fired is the truth?
If this last bit is true, then you need to be upfront and honest with your employers. Then if someone tries to get you fired with the details… the employer knows and wont hold it against you.
Employers tend to only fire people who lie on their interviews and offensive details come out about the employee that were never forth coming.
